Fumigation process conditionally can be divided into four basic stages: 1. Application of necessary amount of a fumigant; 2. Exposure during sufficient time; 3.Fumigant removal and venting of the product /chamber to the safe level; 4.Fumigation efficacy control.
The Standard Fumigation (SF) procedure on a stationary object (storage, silo, moored ship) starts and ends at the same location allowing complete control over the fumigation process to the fumigator on any of its stages, so that it can be carried out effectively and safely.
SF ends with the fumigant removal and fumigation efficacy control. The SF Certificate, issued on completion of treatment, indicates absence of dangerous fumigant concentrations and live insect in the fumigated object. Therefore, the SF Certificate is a final document representing the result of fumigation.
The In-Transit Fumigation (TF) on dynamic object (ship, rail car) as a rule is confined by the fumigant application at load port. The process of TF after departure runs out of fumigator's control, and its efficiency can be determined at discharge port only.
The TF Certificate is issued after fumigant application at load port when fumigation starts. Therefore, the TF Certificate is an intermediate document representing the initial stage but not the result of fumigation. The TF Certificate as a matter of fact is the "FUMIGANT APPLICATION CERTIFICATE".
GREENCO LTD offers their customers In-Transit Fumigation and as far as the process is not completed until ventilation and removal of any residues has been effectively carried out also offers aeration/degassing of goods and fumigation efficacy control at discharge.
